Improving health, safety and wellbeing
Engaging Senior Leaders in risk focused decision making
Creating a culture where leaders at every step in the value chain recognise that the decisions they make can directly influence the level of risk faced by colleagues.
The challenge
Focusing on embedding an engaged safety culture throughout its global business. A culture where leaders at every step in the value chain recognise that the decisions they make can directly influence the level of risk faced by colleagues.
Our solution
We worked with the SHE and Product Safety colleagues to develop an interactive leadership workshop designed for the most senior leaders from every part of the business to explore the role their decisions play in influencing safety risks.
The interactive, conversation-based workshop explored:
- the risks we currently face in our business and the extent to which those risks are well managed and tolerable
- leadership accountability for managing those risks
- the complexities of where accountability sits in complex multi-organisational work settings
- how decisions taken in isolation at different steps in the value chain can impact safety outcomes.
Leaders also experienced a mock court case based around a fictional safety scenario where product and occupational safety risks both featured. Guided by legal expertise, leadership teams prepared their defence and experienced being cross examined.
The outcome
Workshops are now being rolled out across the organisation to enable leaders in every area of the business to have the same conversations.
