Rolls-Royce: Supporting leaders and Peer Supporters to respond in critical moments
Rolls-Royce needed clear, practical guidance to help Peer Supporters and leaders respond confidently in critical moments, including supporting colleagues at risk of harming themselves or others, and leading teams through loss.
The challenge
Supporting people in crisis or after the unexpected death of a colleague requires immediate, confident action in highly sensitive situations. Rolls-Royce needed a consistent, practical approach that leaders and Peer Supporters could use under pressure across different sites and situations.
The outcome
These resources gave leaders and Peer Supporters the clarity and confidence to respond in high-risk and emotionally complex situations, enabling more consistent, compassionate support for individuals and teams.
Our solution
We created two clear, structured guides to support real-time decision-making and compassionate leadership.
An interactive, step-by-step crisis response tool helps Peer Supporters and leaders identify if people are at immediate risk, and provides guidance on what to do and what to say in different scenarios.
A second guide clearly sets out what to do, what signs to look out for that indicate people aren’t coping, and what to focus on across the first day, first week, first month, and longer term to support teams through the unexpected loss of a colleague.
Both were designed using simple language, practical prompts, and clear actions to build confidence and consistency in the moments that matter most.
