Rolls-Royce: Creating a high reliability HSE culture
We worked with HSE colleagues at the global aerospace company, Rolls-Royce, to develop a suite of tools and training to engage leaders from all areas in leading the right safety culture.

The challenge
Rolls-Royce has an ambition to create a high reliability Health Safety and Environment culture. That starts with leaders setting the right culture and behaviours from the top.
Our solution
At the heart of our approach was an interactive one-day workshop for leaders to highlight how the decisions they take can have a direct impact on HSE culture in the organisation.
The workshop enabled leaders to understand how they can influence HSE risks and controls – even if they are in a functional role – and to identify specific and personal actions they could take to shift HSE culture in their area of the business.
We also created a suite of tools to support leaders in creating the right safety culture, including Safety Walks pocket guides, guidance for Accountable People, and teamtalk tools to support leaders with having conversations about specific risks.
The outcome
The leadership workshops were rolled out globally with overwhelmingly positive reviews.
“We have worked with BB&A for a number of years now on our Health, Safety and Wellbeing programmes. What makes BB&A different is the extent to which they are prepared to truly partner with us in order to understand our organisation and our needs. The creativity and quality of their output is excellent and their ability to build engagement, in what can sometimes be seen as dry or technical topics, is impressive. We consider BB&A as an extension of our team and a significant contributor to our success.”
