Global culture programme Be Safe, Safety Starts with Me has received the Health and Safety Transformation award at the International Safety Awards 2023. The award recognises organisations that have significantly changed any aspect of health, safety, or wellbeing to a significant extent through the use of information.

As part of our ongoing work with Hitachi Rail to embed a high reliability safety culture, we undertook a review to understand the safety challenges within the business. This insight enabled us to develop a tailored approach which engaged Hitachi Rail leaders and colleagues around the world in the role they play in reducing safety risks at work.

The award is the second recognition of the programme by the

safety industry, following its win of the Best Health and Safety Project of the Year at the SHE awards earlier this year.
